THE CHALLENGE
Helix Freight ran dispatch on spreadsheets, email and a 15-year-old desktop system. Shipment status was always hours out of date and customers phoned in for updates.
They needed a single platform for dispatchers, drivers and customers without pausing daily operations.
THE SOLUTION
We ran a two-week discovery with dispatch teams, then built an event-driven platform on Node.js, PostgreSQL and Kafka with a React control room and a React Native driver app.
Legacy data was migrated in phases while both systems ran in parallel, and the old system was switched off after six weeks without a single missed shipment.
Watsbit replaced three systems and a wall of spreadsheets with one platform our dispatchers actually enjoy using.
